Because my taste in music is so diverse, I'll only talk about the major genres that would really stick out to whoever is reading this. There are many sub-genres and culture in the music I listen to, and theres also music I listen to thats only in my playlists as jokes. However, I still love all my music equally.
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, mostly because of my dad, my mom was and still isnt really a "music" kind of person. But enough of my chatter, time to taste the music!
The rock genre orginally being called "Rock and Roll" and began in the late 1940's and early 1950's, although you could really only find this music in the US or UK. Rock is one of the most recgognized and popular music genres in the world as of now. Over time, "rock" has gained many many sub-genres, some of my favorite being nu-metal, grunge, alternative metal, and a little bit of black metal.
>Because my music taste is so versatile, not many people I know listen to the music that I do. It's kind of sad for me because I mostly bond over music, and obviously the people that I might meet would probably only think that listening to music that isnt only rap or mainstream, that its "emo".
I think that the most unique band in my playlists would be Rammstein, mostly only because of the fact that they're a German band and their songs are only sung in German. The most common band in my playlists would definetly be Nirvana, I was introduced to the band by my Grandpa when I was younger and have been listening to them ever since.
Here are my favorite song from each band, ordered from most to least favorite.
Some might not agree with the choice and rating of these songs, but theyre true to me and probably still many others.
Hip-Hop's rise began in the late 60's and continued into the 2010's, of course still present and growing nowadays. Many may mistake Hip-Hop as just rap, but Hip-Hop has much more of rich and special history. Hip-Hop, much like rock, also has many sub-genres, although jazz, pop, and R and B dont really fall into those categories.
These genres that I listen are much more common among my friends and people I know, but I never really use these artists music as a gauge to how much I could relate to another person.
I was actually the one to introduce myself to these genres of music, and just happened to get the rest of my family and friends into the style too. If I were to say, I think that either Steve Lacy or Tyler the Creator would be the most popular or known artists of the list, and Kendrick Lamar, although still very popular, would probably be the least known of all.
These are my favorite songs, ordered by most to least favorite, from each artist.
Almost every person that I know right now also agrees that C U Girl is one of the best songs they've heard, and i couldnt agree more.
The indie rock and alternative rock, also just alt-rock, genre is one of the many sub-genres I had mentioned earlier. This kind of music, however, isnt the head-banging kind of rock you might be thinking of.
Alt-rock and indie rock began around the late 1970's and early 80's primarily in the US and UK, as many of rock genres did. Both sub-genres were "created" to build distiction between the mainstream rock and heavy metal and their own music, and also to descirbe independent record labels. Funny thing is, the alt-rock sub-genre got so popular, it was almost recgognized as an entire genre by itself.
These artists are much more uncommon with the people that I interact with on a daily basis, as only a more niche group of people listen to or even know at all. I would say that this style of music might also be considered "emo", even though its completely wrong.
I really enjoy this genre of music, specifically because of the chillness of it. If you ask any random person how they think any kind of rock music would be like, they'd probably say very loud and "weird".
These are my absolute favorite songs from each artist
This style of alt-rock has a much more flowy and chill vibe to it, which is my favorite part.
